This velvet malachite from the Shilu Mine in Guangdong Province, China has a dramatic sculptural presence, with rounded botryoidal growth forming a natural arch-like display shape and rich deep green surface tone.
You can see velvety botryoidal malachite growth across the outer surface, where rounded bubble-like crystal masses roll into one another with a soft matte sheen. The deep forest-green colour gives the specimen a dark, luxurious look, while scattered brighter green flashes catch across the raised curves.
Looking into the crystal from the open sides, the arched sculptural display form becomes one of the defining traits.
