Mongolian Quartz is one of the most exciting and important Quartz discoveries of the modern era. Specimens have been emerging in increasing numbers since approximately 2013, and they represent a completely distinct and highly expressive genre of Quartz growth.
These crystals originate from regions of Mongolia that are geologically complex and mineral-rich, allowing Quartz to form alongside — and sometimes directly within — other mineral species. The result is an astonishing diversity of forms, inclusions, and structural behaviors rarely seen concentrated in a single Quartz family.
Mongolian Quartz is often referred to as a crystal for “The Now”. Its emergence coincides with a time of rapid global change, collective reassessment, and a growing need for heart-centered communication and cooperation.

Milky Quartz occurs worldwide, but New Zealand Milky Quartz deserves special recognition. NZ Milky Quartz is exceptionally vibrant, often displaying a luminous softness rather than a dull opacity. These specimens carry a clean, coherent feel that reflects both their geological environment and the relatively unpolluted landscapes from which they originate. They are quietly powerful, deeply stabilizing, and far more sophisticated than their appearance suggests.

Phantom Quartz is one of the most symbolically powerful growth forms in the Quartz family. These crystals contain visible internal “phantoms” — ghost-like images of earlier stages of the crystal’s own development preserved within the body of the crystal itself.
Each phantom represents a pause, interruption, or shift during the crystal’s growth cycle. Rather than halting development permanently, the Quartz resumes growth and carries the record of that moment forward. Phantom Quartz forms when a crystal’s growth is temporarily interrupted by the introduction of another substance or a change in environmental conditions. Etched Quartz refers to Quartz crystals that display natural surface markings created through cycles of growth, dissolution, and regrowth over long geological periods. These markings appear as symbols, lines, grooves, geometric patterns, or script-like formations etched directly into the crystal faces.
Etching can occur in many Quartz varieties and from many locations worldwide. It is not a separate species or formation, but rather a record of the crystal’s long and complex interaction with its environment. Etched Quartz is often found in association with older growth stages, extended formation timelines, and fluctuating chemical conditions.
Because of this, etched crystals are commonly regarded as ancient and information-rich specimens. The presence of etching suggests the crystal has undergone multiple phases of evolution rather than forming in a single, uninterrupted growth cycle.
Elestial Quartz crystals are widely considered the most complex members of the Etched Quartz family. Their skeletal and layered growth often results in extensive and varied etching, sometimes with a different “language” appearing on each face and termination.
Etched Quartz is composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and crystallizes in the trigonal crystal system, like all Quartz. The etching itself is formed when acidic or mineral-rich fluids partially dissolve the crystal surface during pauses or reversals in growth.
