Natural Chevron Amethyst Shard
USD $31.00
SKU: A550
This is a fine patterned piece of Natural Chevron Amethyst! It has exquisite color and luster. These crystals have formed in a bunch together, and then separated. These special crystals often look like they are terminated in the photos and the shard has indeed formed a point – but is not terminated in the traditional sense, they are their own kind of thing! The removable base featuring New Zealand Paua shell comes with the crystal! This specimen is in excellent condition.

Interesting Facts & Provenance
Amethyst has been admired and collected for thousands of years, valued not only for its rich purple colour but also for the interplay of geological rarity, visual depth, and cultural meaning. Each specimen represents a convergence of specific Earth conditions and human history, making Amethyst as much a record of time as it is a natural object of beauty.
Name, History & Classical Origins
The name Amethyst derives from the ancient Greek word amethystos, meaning “not intoxicated.” In Greek mythology, Amethyst was associated with Dionysus and was traditionally regarded as a stone of clarity, balance, and moderation.
Colour, Layering & Natural Variation
Amethyst develops its purple colour through a precise combination of silica crystallisation, trace iron incorporation, and natural irradiation over extended geological time. Many specimens display visible colour zoning or layered growth, offering insight into changing formation conditions during crystal growth.
In rare cases, Amethyst occurs alongside Citrine within the same Quartz crystal, forming Ametrine. This colour zoning results from variations in iron chemistry and thermal conditions within a single crystal structure.
Geological Information
Amethyst is the violet to purple variety of Quartz, formed when silica-rich fluids crystallise under specific geological conditions. Its colour arises from trace iron incorporated during growth, followed by natural irradiation that creates colour centres within the crystal lattice.

Metaphysical & Energetic Properties
The following associations are based on traditional, cultural, and experiential interpretations and are not presented as medical or scientific claims.
Amethyst has long been regarded as a crystal associated with calm awareness, mental clarity, and reflective focus. Many practitioners describe it as supportive during visualization practices, meditation, and periods of introspection.
Some people choose to place Amethyst near the head during rest or contemplation, viewing it as helpful for easing mental noise and encouraging a more settled, balanced state of mind. In traditional contexts, Amethyst has also been associated with moderation, discernment, and steady perception.
Environmental Sensitivity & Stillness
Within experiential traditions, Amethyst is sometimes described as helpful in environments that feel overstimulating or mentally demanding. Rather than acting, it is often viewed as encouraging stillness — creating a quiet space for awareness and reflection.
Crystal Pairings & Synergy
Amethyst is often paired with
Clear Quartz,
Rose Quartz,
Smoky Quartz,
and
Citrine.
In personal and traditional care practices, Amethyst is often cleansed using water, saltwater, or contact with natural earth, depending on individual preference and cultural background.
For many practitioners, Amethyst is considered one of a small group of foundational crystals — valued for its versatility, subtle presence, and ability to integrate easily into long-term practice.
