Crystal Description
This Dragon’s Blood Stone polished point displays a dark, earthy base accented by vivid green mineral patches and winding red hematite veins that move naturally through the stone. The color contrast creates a layered, geological appearance that shifts subtly across each face. Read More →
The piece is shaped into a well-proportioned six-sided point with a precisely cut termination that emphasizes its vertical lines. Green inclusions appear embedded within the darker matrix, while red-brown seams trace organic paths across the surface, giving the stone a sense of depth and movement.
Fine internal veils and a softly granular texture are visible beneath the surface, reflecting the stone’s natural formation rather than uniformity. The base has been evenly finished, allowing the point to stand securely without support.
Compact yet visually detailed, this Dragon’s Blood Stone point offers strong natural patterning and balanced proportions. This listing is for the exact specimen shown in the photographs.

Bloodstone Origins & Background
Bloodstone, also known as Heliotrope, is a variety of Chalcedony Quartz distinguished by its deep green body color and characteristic red inclusions. These red markings are caused by iron oxide, most commonly Hematite, dispersed throughout the stone.
The name “Heliotrope” originates from Greek, meaning “to turn the sun,” reflecting ancient beliefs that Bloodstone had a connection to vitality, life force, and solar energy. Historically, Bloodstone has been used as a talisman for courage, protection, and endurance across many cultures.
Major sources of Bloodstone include India, Brazil, Australia, China, and parts of the United States. Indian Bloodstone, in particular, has been widely used for both ornamental and metaphysical purposes for centuries.
Bloodstone typically forms in massive, opaque structures rather than distinct crystal points, making it well suited to carving, polishing, and use in practical tools such as wands, palm stones, and talismans.
Bloodstone is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz (Silicon Dioxide – SiO₂) belonging to the Chalcedony group. Its green coloration is typically due to Chlorite or other iron-bearing minerals, while the red spots and streaks are caused by iron oxide inclusions, most commonly Hematite.
Bloodstone forms in silica-rich environments, often within sedimentary or volcanic host rocks where iron-rich fluids were present during formation.
Bloodstone is a powerful stone of vitality, courage, and forward momentum. It carries a strong, primal energy that supports sustained effort, making it especially useful when undertaking large projects, long-term commitments, or situations that require resilience and determination.
This stone increases confidence and surety of mind, helping to dispel negative or draining influences that can stall progress. Bloodstone is often worked with during times of challenge, as it encourages clear decision-making and the inner strength to move forward without hesitation.
Bloodstone has long been associated with cleansing and energizing the blood. Energetically, it is believed to stimulate circulation, strengthen life force, and support renewal throughout the body. It also carries a grounding influence that helps anchor high energy safely into the physical form.
Traditionally, Bloodstone has also been linked with maintaining balance and vitality within the reproductive system for both men and women.
Practical & Body-Based Uses
A tumbled stone, small wand, or freeform of Bloodstone may be taped to the inside of the wrist overnight. In this position, blood repeatedly passes the stone over the course of sleep, symbolically supporting cleansing and energetic “tuning” while the body rests.
Bloodstone is an excellent companion to carry during demanding projects, leadership roles, or moments where courage and stamina are required. Meditating with Bloodstone brings clarity, grounding, and a sense of calm confidence when facing complex or high-pressure situations.
Bloodstone Crystal Pairings & Synergy
Bloodstone works particularly well with crystals that support grounding, vitality, courage, and focused action.
It pairs exceptionally well with Clear Quartz, Smoky Quartz, and Red Jasper. Clear Quartz amplifies Bloodstone’s energizing and cleansing qualities, Smoky Quartz enhances grounding and protection, and Red Jasper reinforces endurance and physical strength.
Bloodstone also works beautifully alongside Hematite for grounding and circulation-focused work, Carnelian for motivation and creative drive, and Green Aventurine to balance intensity with healing and growth.
Summary
Bloodstone is a solid and dependable ally when facing demanding tasks or major life challenges. It boosts personal power, supports vitality, and promotes clarity of purpose, offering strength and renewal to both body and mind.
